this.

Ive never pulled the plugs on the head. you will get oil in the cylinders period so weather its a cup or a quart , its still gotta come out.

I crank it by hand with the injectors in, glow plugs out, one revoloution. then crank with the starter for 10-15 seconds. throw it together and go to town I have also done it just by hand, it just takes a bit longer. its just your preference .

^^^^ This. Also I crank the motor some extra to prime the system. The motor spins faster because there is no compression in the cylinders which helps it prime.

i just pull the glowplugs, put the valve covers on by 2 or 3 bolts and hit the starter a couple quick times. gaurenteed to not hydrolock. if you do it by hand I feel its just not enough.

Valve covers on, gps out , injectors unplugged and roll w the starter. Bolt them down as said or the pressure will push them off.

What they said... I've done countless injector swaps, always the same way... Pull #7 and #8, pull all the glow plugs, pull the rest and then install new injectors. TQ, then install valve covers with a bolt. bump the starter a few times, you can hear it clear out. Then hit the starter for 5-10 seconds. Finish installing glow plugs, wire harness and valve covers...

Enjoy.

Does fuel get in with the oil when doing injectors? Do you change oil after as well?

Yes, and as said above... Get her running, a quick test drive and change the oil...

Sounds easy enough!

Mighty vac makes a fluid evaculator that has a tiny hose that goes perfectly into the injector hole. Sucks all the fluid out. No contaminating oil with fuel

You know why the truck has a crank case vent right? Diesel burns off the oil as it being ran... I think it is a good idea to change oil after new injectors but it won't hurt anything to burn off diesel...

If fuel goes into that cylinder and doesn't burn, and sits for a couple minutes, it's in the oil.

That said, I use a homeade deal to pump the cylinders, and forgo the spinover with no glow plugs installed. No issues in several sets of injectors.
