Ok so first off: Just traded my tuned 2012 F350 in for a 2015 F250. Wanted a Platinum, didn't read the forums first, so yeah here I am with a 2015 and the slow realization that I may have to drop 7k for a built transmission...

So my main problem is I live in WA state for right now, and there seems to be a severe lack of powerstroke guru shops around here. Plenty of duramax/cummins friendly shops, but no one wants to touch the 6.7's... That I know of...

I'd love to just get beefier clutch packs put in, instead of getting a whole 7k transmission, so to y'all: is this a smart choice or should I just bite the bullet and get a built one? If it is a viable choice, does anyone know of any shops near Seattle, WA?

Planned mods: She gets a 5" flo pro, S&B intake, and PIP tunes today, and I'd like to run it on the hottest setting 24/7 because wtf not. Power-wise, that will be the extent of it, for now... Eventually *next week, lol* she's getting a Carli 2.5 pintop leveling setup with full deaver rears, 18" rims with 35" rubber.

I realize this topic is on it's way to getting beat all to hell and I apologize for those who keep having to answer these questions. I'm just not finding exactly what I need to know by searching old threads.

Can't help it, seeing as I plan to run around in Race 24/7. If simply adding some clutch packs or even swapping out for an 11-14 trans is enough, I'd like to go that route. 7k for a built transmission for a truck that will likely never see over 600whp, seems like wasted money, but if it's the only option, so be it.

Im running & plan on running 24/7 365 on my race tune, heck it only sounds aggressive, its more like improved street lol.I wouldn't worry about the trans right away unless you just plan on beating it senseless all the time.

Looks like I'm going to go with a Suncoast trans, since they're rated to 800hp and I won't go over that... yet... lol. I put the tune on today and did a couple rolls then a boosted launch, can def see that the transmission doesn't agree with the power. The difference from the 2012 is noticeable. I figure I'll play it safe and this way I can entertain a street max and duel fuelers route lol. Next up, rods...

Bigpowr, I'll DEFINITELY hit you up! Lol

Also, has anyone heard of any revised tweaking of the Race tunes from PIP? Just wondering because the smoke it's producing is just... I feel like I should have a Cummins badge on the side... lol.

Check out the Midwest trans. It doesn't have a HP rating...

Because Morgan hasn't broken it yet :lookaround:

I'm on my 5th version now. They do it all the time, best thing about them.

I looked at Morgan's trans on his site, seems like way more transmission than I bed with the price to match. I realize you get what you pay for, and I'm in no way saying it's not worth it! I've heard nothing but good stuff about Morgan and his stuff!

Must not have looked very hard. He's right in line with your $7k figure if you pay the core up front and go with the aftermarket pan. http://www.midwestdieselauto.com/store/p181/Midwest_Diesel_Performance_Built_6R140.html

I know, I'm saying the Suncoast one is half that. The $7k pricing was based off Morgan's transmission. Sorry for any confusion.

so for 1300.00 you wont go with something that has a track record of surviving over 1100 hp and a no questions warranty? i can't get the logic.

do it right, once.
