Good stuff-- I don't really want to get caught up in the name brand crap and just want a solid piece that works. Im hoping we can figure this out the first time-- this trans only has about 50K on it. Im pretty sure the converter has been dragging/drifting for awhile, which is likely not the converter's fault. Ive been told a few times that the pump performance and the pump/converter interfaces in a 4R100 are critical and that cross leaks kill more converters than anything.

Lots of good reading on the Sonnax pages.

That precision converter preference has been a lot of folklore as Im seeing it. PI doesnt make converters. They sell them. I realize there are only so many ways to make a converter but they are nothing special. Just a paint color.

I ran a roadrunner triple disc in a stock trans with a vb and it was a tough converter. I let it go with the trans but it was plenty for a built trans too. $4-600 bucks.

The trans builder and the converter shop are certain that the converter in my trans came from ATS and just painted. Its got mostly Dodge RE guts in it. I had a strange heat treated cover and the hat would not weld back on without cracking. Everyone agreed it wasn't worth taking a risk on.

We are going with a billet covered, triple disk from a 6.0.
