96 =green Something about gaskets in the heater cooler and the old pumps. But to be honest I have had a number of guys that have used the ELC with no issues at all and one has reported over 100K But the tech correct fluid is the green and then add the SCA additive as needed by testing.

Dmstrucks02,

Using the green you MUST use the additve. TEch that is the correct coolant according to Ford but its well proven and also thru IH that the ELC are 100% fine and they are a better choice from a service and durability stand point. What it comes down to is do you want to have to worry about adding SCA additves and checking it to see the levels along with more flushes or just throw in your coolant and then only have to change it ever 5-10 years or 300K which ever comes first LOL.

As far as how they perform both work fine. Green with proper SCA levels keeps thing cool and running as does the ELC. ELC doe shave some better perf things but I can not recall them. Good over to the TDS and do a search on Coolant and the user name GOOCH or GOOCHE and see what you get. The name is something close to that. He also popped in a few times on PSN. He is very well educated in coolants tech. Some very good threads on it and the hows and whys etc..

No reason to right now. Your coolant is fine. Just the next time you get around to it and are doing a flush switch to red I suggest CAT but Chevron is also good. check out those threads I mentioned to search for they give good info and I think you will feel and understand everything better.

Yes for now. The reason I say this is coolant is not exactly cheap anymore. You are looking at $100-$150 to do a coolant swap for the coolant. Thats money. Now if you have not added any SCA you can add the prescribed amount. Most auto stores should have it especially if you live in area where PU are big. Then check the SCA levels when you change your oil. When you have the money and time go ahead and switch over. Like maybe if you find a good sale on a ELC coolant.

Green is the safe bet for those but I know of a number of people running ELC with no issues for a number of years now. The ELC is nice as you never have to fool with it and you do not get the silica formation from using the SCAs so water pumps last longer.
