i put a 1999 motor in my 2002 and the coolant temp is way messed up. If i start it in the morning it reads right in the middle, then after about five minutes or so it goes up to overheated and stays. i thought it was the 99's wiring harness because it was throwing a battery light so i changed the harness it fixed the bat light but not the coolant light then we changed the gauge cluster and the water pump sensor and its still reading overheated all day any ideas??

If it is starting in the middle, I would think it was an electrical issue not a real temp issue. You should double check it with an old school mechanical gauge though.

:whs:

I'd check the wiring to the sensor, too....and depending on the readings get a new OEM sensor.

Could also check.it with a heat sensing gun

Didn't the PCM wiring change in 2002. If so, you need the 2002 wiring harness on there. May also be a different sending unit. Put one from a 2002 on there. Is the wiring connector the same as another wiring connector, could you have the connectors plugged in wrong?
