Anyone have ideas or a way to keep the block heater cord and power cord from freezing together? Besides not plugging it in

WD-40 electric contact cleaner will displace any moisture in the plug and keep it from freezing.

Thanks I'll have to get some of that a day of rain followed by two days under 20 is turning stuff into a pita. Lol
Think that would work on locks as well?

I'm sure it would. Regular WD-40 would work in locks as well.
Once you have the locks thawed, use the red straw and spray until it starts coming back out of the hole.
I've also used refrigerator magnets to cover the key hole overnight if I know there is a chance of freezing rain or snow.

keep it out of the snow...... Never had that problem.

I've had it happen a few times. Female end of plug gets snow thrown on it driving around all day. Once engine is shut off it gets cold and freezes again.

Before I plug mine in if I notice it's wet I dry it on my shirt as best I can. Another way would be to keep it under the hood where it might stay a little warmer. When if kept mine under the hood it was warm no matter the outside temp. Now I dry it as best I can and tuck it behind the grille. Hasn't frozen yet.

I use dielectric grease and zip tie it to a tow hook with a little slack. When it's not in use I tuck it in behind the bumper and it stays pretty clean.

It was dry when plugged in it rained that night sad part is there was no ice on the out side of it. Only other time I had problems was my last trk had about half inch of ice on the cord that winter sucked.

:whs:

Dielectric Grease....and tucking the cord up into the grill, LOL
Some idiot zip tied it to the tow hook.

You must keep your cord wrapped on the front of you pickup. I leave mine at home.

Like you stated WD-40 will help for sure.

That is funny? I wonder what is doing it. Like was stated though WD-40 should help. Maybe my problem is if its warm enough to melt it never gets plugged in. Only when I know it is going to be below zero will i plug it in.

That problem you have would be annoying.

I mean the male end, as in the one that stays with the truck.
We get ridiculous humidity up here in the PNW, even when it's cold. I think that contributes as well.

I normally plug mine in below 30*f not because it won't start, more of a comfort thing of the motor not being as cold if a fire run was to come about. Might just stuff it full of grease and see what happens if that don't work try a new end on the plug on the extension cord it didn't get above 10 today and had to mess with it twice also put the rear to the wind tonight instead of the front

If the power wouldn't have been out yesterday it would've, as I had my baby kershaw shoved between the plugs touching all 3 prongs I thought this would be a good time for the power to come back on lol.
