Crankshaft spacer help!

That's where the engine spacer comes in.

Should be able to measure crank endplay at the harmonic balancer end as well. I don't think you'll hurt it with a big soft mallet.

The crankshaft only has one dowel in it, it goes in the larger of the two holes. Dowel is the same length weather a manual or auto.

Auto assembly as follows, the big aluminum spacer first on the engine, steel spacer direct to the crankshaft, flex plate to steel spacer, ring plate with bolts. The crank dowel should protrude about 1/8" once flex plate is on.

Hope this helps.

Are the dowels still in the engine block for the trans alignment?

Yes they are and they are the longer ones.

Well.... I may have mistook loose exhaust parts for my flexplate being bad.

Bought a transmission jack and took it apart last night. Feel more than a little dumb. Spacer is there and dowels are tight. Ill check the clearance anyway when I put it back together to see if washers are warranted. Now I'm nervous I'm gonna mess it up putting it back together and it's gonna actually break! I'll have to lookup torque specs. and get some brake klean.
