Not to derail but can a new key be programmed without a reflash?

Yes, just have to let the IDS do it's ten minute wait period to get into the security system and load a new key.

The easy way to program a new key if you have two good ones already is to cycle the ignition with both of those keys right after each other, then cycle the new one. Doors will lock and unlock and then it's done. Almost every Ford with a chipped key has that feature enabled from the factory.

I've only got one key though

It shouldn't. That being said, if I was doing it in my shop, I would flash the truck back to stock with whatever tuning device you have, install and program the remote start, then reload the tuning.

Update to my own question....

I took my 2015 to another Ford Dealership and was told (by a Service Adviser) that the truck would have to be returned to stock prior to changing the tank parameter. They also said it would cost $100.00 and I'd have to leave the truck with them for a day.

Since it was suggested here on the Forum that anyone with an IDS for Ford's (along with the knowledge to operate the system) can do this, I went to an Independent Shop, owned by a guy who was the Service Manager/Shop Foreman for a Ford Dealership for 35 years (before getting fed up with Corporate America). He said that the programming for the tank calibration is through a different module and has ZERO affect on the tuning. As we were talking, he grabbed his laptop computer, walked out to my truck and changed the parameter in less than 5 minutes while we chatted about the good old days. He refused to take any money, just asking to send some business his way. My digital display is now showing 815 miles to empty!

Long story, even longer: You don't have to return your truck to "stock" tuning prior to recalibrating the parameter for the fuel tank.

The only negative to the Titan 50 gallon tank is the first fill-up. It cost me $160.00! Thank goodness diesel was $3.19 per gallon. The last tank I installed was on a 2010. It was a 52 gallon tank and diesel was $4.39 per gallon. That was a $225.00 fill-up!!!

TrickTruck, they just go in and move the check mark from the 25 check box to the 50 check box, at least that's how the 15 is.
I figured that. Problem is that IDS can't commune with my truck. Not sure why, but it comes up with an invalid computer.

I was in for trans service (the reverse delay problem) and wanted the computers updated. The tech couldn't do it and eventually invited me back into the shop to help.

I've returned to stock, unplugged the minimax, unplugged the stupid radio (POS Kenwood and Maestro). Nothing worked. Finally we gave up with it unresolved.

Never could get IDS to communicate with the truck in any way.

We did call H&S and they had no idea what the problem could be.

You're driving a 2012. Is this correct?

If so, you need to update the entire truck, not just the computer. LOLLOLLOL

going by memory here so may not get it right, but it would display the serial# of the truck's computer and say it wasn't the right # for the truck

Could it be that h&s doesn't save the stock file that was on the truck and actually reinstalls a stock file from memory which may or may not match what was there?

we couldn't get it to ignore the problem and IDS wouldn't commune with the truck at all. So upgrading to this 50gal tank could be a real problem. and an expensive one at that.

Not really.....fuel gauge still works. The only thing that will be off, is xxx miles until empty.
