I ran Bob's Adrenaline pump on my '03 engine that I changed everything to run the newer wavey rails, but the old style pump. It ran 225/100's but the Autometer gauge was tied into the ICP line wires, and showed pressure dropped down to 2100-2300 psi.
Rebuilt the engine, ran the exact same setup, but changed to the new style stock hpop ('05+) and the truck would fall on it's face every time I got a little past half throttle.
I could not tell that it was dropping pressure...hell, I thought it ran good...but the gauge told me otherwise. How did it do (sotp) with the Dieselsite pump?
.
No idea. Eric knew what I had at the time.Ivan did you have ipr duty cycle pulled in your tune? If not thats probaby why you couldnt hold icp
No...the straight rails are half the volume of the wavey rails. 15cc compared to 30cc.Did you ever run it with the straight rails? Maybe I am missing something, but I would think that straight rails would flow slightly better, assuming the same cross-sectional area? I thought the only reason they switched to the wavy rails is because it was quieter?

When I switched to the stock '05+ HPOP, the difference was night and day. (Running the same 225/100 injectors)
I thought I had multiple HPO leaks, but the engine started up hot or cold, no problem...turns out, it was just needing more oil.

With increased volume, it should hold the pressure longer before dropping off.
My biggest concern about the HPODS is that the pump can only move so much oil through the outlet hole of the pump itself...no matter how many more hoses you put on the outlet...it can only deliver so much oil.
Now...add another pump, along with the HPODS, and all your HPO issues go away.

I guess I am just slow, but I am not understanding how the volume makes a difference. I was under the impression that flow was more important than pressure in the oil rails? Can someone explain this a little further?
i havent seen or heard of anyone that knew enough to pull ipr duty cycle in tuning for that pump...
when i was data logging i actually stumbled on it by accident...
So how do we early 03 guys get it? Convert the oil system and rails to 05-07?
That's what I did.
Need the rocker boxes, glow plug harness, valve covers, etc.
Just find someone who is parting out an entire engine, and buy the whole hpo system...easy.
