If i wouldn't have had a second one to rob parts out of i would have had to, like my direct drum splines were completely stripped and a few other parts were bad, i couldn't afford billet shafts right now

How much did it cost you to rebuild yourself?

Mine has 210k miles on it and never even tuned. I should just need a set of clutches, converter, valve body, and fluid.

Looks like from Racer X the Clutch kit $500, Converter $800, Valve body $225.

After looking at Racer X site they don't have the hard part kits on there anymore. I guess he had too many problems with people buying them without a clue on what to do.

I just looked at the patc website. The level 4 is $3800 that's why me and cledusp will build a tranny similar to that but it will be around $1000. Anyone else have any input as to what should be replaced or upgraded ehile in the tranny. Will be replacing the pump too.

#K100. Build your own Level 4 Enforcer transmission. Fits all 4R100 transmissions, 1998 on. You get all Red Eagle clutches and Kolene steels plus all 4 Alto Power Packs. Red Eagle Power Packs and Kolene steels for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, Kryptonite Power Pack and Kolene steels for overdrive. You also get a Transgo Shift Kit, power valve, overdrive spiral snap ring, 45 element sprag, triple clutch torque converter (#3D6 or #3G6) and our 300M input shaft. The 2001 4R100 with the diode one-way clutch will have to be retro fitted with the 50-tooth outer race type sprag, see below (not included). This price includes the overhaul kit, carbon fiber band and filter. Add molded pistons, bearings, thrust washers, solenoid pack, pump and pressure valve if needed. You save $161.00 or 10%. All of this for $1448.00.

Awesome info in here guys, thanks for the replies. What I have is a 96 2wd that has no gears at all. Tranny is totally shot. This is the truck I need to get going again. I have another E4OD that is shot, but it is 4wd, so if someone has the parts to convert it over to 2wd, I would prefer to rebuild it and leave the other intact in the truck, then swap them out after the rebuild is complete, and find out if I'm a transmission specialist or not. :D

As far as parts and prices that I have already got. Talked to a local shop and was quoted 1700-2500 depending on damage, that comes with a 1 year, unlimited miles, warranty. Also includes R&R. I would say this rebuild is just a tad over stock.

Next was a guy recomended by a tuner, right at 3k for a "built" trans. Would include a good converter, and BTS vb. I do R&R myself. Still trying to get more info on this build as well. Problem is that we all have probably had not so good experiences with so-called "built" transmissions.

And the kicker is I'm right in the middle of buying a house as well, so that has a big chunk of my finances in holding right now, to help with any unforeseen issues.

As human nature is, I want the best for the cheapest. I would like to have BTS quality parts, but keep the cost around 3k. And as I have stated before, I have been able to tackle any other mods to my truck, by taking my time with good instructions. And I'm not trying to cheap out either. I I had the disposable funds I would just buy a BTS and be done with it, but that's just not feasable at the moment with the time frame I have, as with my current rig I consider it a miracle if it starts, and another miracle if I get to where I'm going alive. Haha.

Calo.....I was doing the same with a spare 2wd 4R100. All I needed was the 4x4 adapter. "what it takes transmission" sent me an adapter for less than 75 shipped. Arrived in 2 days. Check them out.

Plans have changed since I found out a few of the sponsors here sell Warren diesel trannies for a great price. I think a stage 1 was 2600.

Caladash-thanks I'll take a look. Since the whole tranny has to be tore down to convert from one to the other, and I would be right there anyway I could rebuild the other and go 2 or 4wd depending on what I needed.

And that's not a bad price, with shipping? But again you are looking at a stage 1, and as much as I change plans with my trucks I'd hate to burn it up. I'm kinda figuring if I can get the best quality parts available I could put it together and it should be good for a while. BTS part but assembled by me type deal.
