Thanks a lot for your reply. Nice to hear from someone that has a direct comparison, without other changes.

I don't really think it is the coils, because the compression feels about right. It is just the rebound that feels too light or soft. The truck seems to rebound too fast and bounce a little after hitting a bump.

If the spring/axle bounces around after you hit a bump then you may need a little more rebound added to the shock valving. We may be talking two different versions of the what soft means... LOL

On an adjustable shock, if you're getting, for lack of no other term, kickback from bumps in the road in the rear end, do you want to firm up the shock it soften it. Currently on my drive to work there's a section of highway where the joints in the concrete are spaced at just the right distance apart that it's giving the rear end of the truck a nasty kickback. 3 hits in a row until it settles down for a second before doing it again. Dam ccsb truck, my fathers cclb was the perfect wheelbase and met the expansion joints perfect on both axles at once. I'm not talking about a $200 each shock setup. Thinking more like some cheap azz rancho 9000 adjustables for now. Hoping some traction bars will help out like everyone says they do in a couple months. Just not sure which way to adjust for that kickback.

Highway joints can be interesting.... adding traction bars could make it better or worse.....LOL...most likely better...but...LOL you never know. Sometimes if you can adjust the rebound, you start with them open all the way up and keep cranking them down. Sometimes you can get rid of it...sometimes you can't...LOL. Unless you spend some more money on some larger 2.5 plus shocks. You also need to mess with the front a little bit and not just the rear. I have noticed that messing with the front shocks can make a bit of difference in how the rear of the truck rides. LOL... I don't know if that at all helped with your question...LOL

Swap the springs for carli and it will resolve this feeling.

I only say this because I had the exact same experience with the icons and fox shocks.

Are you running 5100s or 5160s?

Which Icons were you running and how did they compare to the Bilsteins?

5100s. They were a bit more firm, but close to the same ride as icon shocks. At the time I needed shocks to get me by till I upgraded to coil overs.

I was running icon VS 2.0s.

Were the icons not rebuildable?

Not really, blew the shocks in half, the shafts snapped off the body and turned into a pretzel. Fun evening in the middle of the desert... Blew the coils out as well and my front brake lines.

I'd recommend a remote resi shock valved specifically for your steer weight. I used to have this exact problem with my 5100s and pure performance coils. Fox 2.0 with remote resi has since fixed that issue. Compression is good and then releases slowly back to ride height
