EBP sensor freezing up?

Every year or two I have to replace my ebp sensor due to it freezing up. I guess moisture builds up after awhile and when it gets cold it freezes. I think I'm going to try to relocate it a bit this time. Try to get it close to vertical so moisture should drain off. And get it closer to the heat of the engine. Right now it's on the tube connected to the block off plate for the EGR.
Anyone else deal with this and find a solution?

you have a few options, depending upon how cold it gets for you and how much time and money you want to put into it.

I've shorted the ebp sensor feed tube too about 2 inches. Seems to work ok, but again depends upon how cold you get too. So far here -20c and no issues.

The best is to remove the mini ox pipe (main contributor to the moisture) and run a sensor feed tube off of that flange. That will however require you to ****** the egr vs just using block of plates. This is the best solution.

Simplest between shorting the tube is to remove plates, if you have h&s run the easy tune for winter, or a tune with egr enabled for winter. (or at least while its cold)

There are a few guys running it in the manifold like a 6.0. I dont remember if they had 6.0 manifolds withthe port, or had drilled their own. Either way, that solves both your issues. Its in the hottest spot, and is mounted vertically.

6.0 manifold was my first thought. Don't really want to get into it that far. Bit warmer out tonight, -31c, still frozen though. Going to order a sensor Monday, see what I can do about it then.

Curious as to how you drive your 6.4? Always read EBP sensor issues, when I had mine I had it up in Fort Mac at -40 and all around Alberta, never an issue once. She was always working and being driven hard so curious if guys that are idling lots or taking it easy on her is why they are getting so much moisture up there?

Not driven hard at all. No long runs. Mostly empty. Around 10 km to work. 50 km to cabin every other week. Usually empty. No dry pavement so can't drive hard without spinning. No EGR or coolers left on truck either, so sensor is not in stock location.

Easy fix is use the ebp tube from the 6.7. It's shorter and fits better behind the turbos. I can snap a pic if your curious just msgs me and remind me.
In Fort Mac the temp is cold but the humidity is low so condensation is minimal, lived there for years and only had one fail.

Pretty dry here too, but not as dry as Alberta. I lived in Peace River for 5 years, was always itchy in the winter. Lol
