So, welding up the EGR cooler, it has to be "visually" , this will throw the check engine light. If I have the SCT Livewire on a tune, there wont be a check engine light. Did I read that right somewhere?

OP, did you use freeze plugs to help build up the weld? I'm about to do mine this way due to visual inspection also. Just looking for pointers I guess.

I went to home depot and got some sheet metal and used a hole saw to cut to correct size. Freeze plugs aint a bad idea, i hadnt thought of that. :D

I have the sizes you need wrote down somewhere.. Ill find them. Only reason I done the freeze plugs seen on Youtube someone else done it.. Was perfect! ��

dorman 555-093 and dorman 555-021 is the freeze plugs. Some they that the exhaust side will burn through eventually, how long? Who knows. I don't think it will be for a long time though.

EDIT:::: Chit, now the freeze plug thing has me thinking, One dude said his exhaust melted the freeze plug and took the turbo out!

No, not back together yet. Have been swamped at work. I'm still debating on pulling the low pressure oil pump and having a look, that piece of steel has me kinda worried that I found in the oil cooler in the oil side. The truck runs flawlessly. So hopefully it was just something in the oil cooler. LOL!
