EGR Delete Noises

Anyone notice some different noises after an egr delete? I realize there is no place now for the exhaust to go since the coolers are gone. I get like a blow off sometimes in between shifts. Also, I still have the factory elbow and CAC pipe for now but I hear a slight rattle from the motor. Could that be something in that elbow fluttering making it sound like a slight rattle?

Yes. It actually sounds more like a ping or ting now. Maybe mechanical IDK. Maybe a loose rocker or something. Only does it at light load really.

Could the pipe from the up pipe that you capped off be vibrating and hitting the manifold on the drivers side? Mine did this at idle when i first did my delete, if i remember right it is pretty flimsy with out that cooler on there since the bracket that holds it to the valve cover is about 6 or 7 inches away from the connection. It seems like every time I do some sort of mod it takes me a day or two to track down the new rattles that i have caused by doing something new.

I will take a look thanks but this sounds like it is coming from the top of the motor. Would that vibration be rythmic like that though? I think it may be getting more pronounced the more I listen or hear it.

The bracket should never have been touched unless you eliminated the EGR up-pipe. Do you have a manual? You say you get the hissing "blow off valve" sound I between shifts, if so then it's your intake.
Only other thing I can think of is the valve fluttering, but I don't think it would make that much noise? When I did mine I replaced the elbow as well so it's hard to say

I have an automatic. Just put the plate on where the horizontal cooler was. Deleted EGR system and put studs in. I did get the blow off but I have not noticed it lately. When you say valve you mean the valve that is in the stock intake elbow?? This sounds like chatter to me. Almost like rocker or lifter chatter. I am going to get a no limit setup here shortly hopefully but this noise is starting to get on my nerves. I first thought it was that dang egr valve in the stock elbow like a butterfly or something in there chattering but I am unsure what it could be. I could video it but I doubt it would pick anything up

Thats what I thought. You think that could make consistent of a noise. I know it is hard to diagnose via text and not hearing or seeing. This is what I am hoping it is as I dont see a lifter or rocker chattering like that

We're the studs and EGR delete done all at once? Did you just get the truck up and running and this just started?

Yes, did it all at once. Studs and delete at the same time. Yes, just started. I heard it as soon as starting driving it but didnt think too much of it since I thought it had something to do with the EGR delete and still having the stock elbow

Got rid of the stock elbow and that butterfly valve still makes the tick so that is out. Sounds more and more like a tick and valvetrain nows.

probably a lifter, these lifters aren't the best. There was a TSB out on the lifters, I have heard that a lighter weight oil helps
