Does anyone know of a ready to install kit for the 6.0l? Flex-o-lite has one for the 7.3's, Dodge's and Chevy/GMC's, but I can't find one for the 6.0. I know I've seen electric fans in a couple sigs here and there, but I'm having a hell of a time finding a kit. Any info would be appreciated.

Yes. I've been running the flex-a-lite electric fan kit on my truck for almost 2 years now with zero issues. Makes for tons of room under the hood. Flex-a-lite doesn't have one exactly for the 6L, but the one for the 7.3 fits with just a little modification.

Thanks for the pictures. I really think this could free up some horsepower. How did you get the fans to work? I mean did you tie them into the stock thermostat or add one?

No....there is a VSC(variable speed controller) bolted to the fan shroud. You just need to run a wire from the controller to a 12v key on source, one wire to + terminal on battery(which has a 50amp circuit breaker) and one wire to - terminal on battey. Then there is a temperature probe that goes into the fins of the radiator and is wired to the controller also. However it says in the directions to also wire the controller into the A/C so that when you turn the A/C on that the fans will come on with the A/C. But i didn't do that and i know of others that didn't do that.

Here's the directions

I would like to add these to my truck just to free up some room so I can service things like the water pump and harmonic balancer A LOT easier.

Flex lite specifically states "not for super duty"

I'd be afraid I wouldn't know if it were up to the towing task or not until it was to late myself

but dang I would love the easy access you get

If a person is that affraid of it not being good for towing then leave the stock fan on. But Ellerton towed Tyler's truck to the DPC a few years back in his truck that had the electric fans on it. He tow'd it threw mountains and hot temps and didn't have any issues. I know of some with these that tow alot and have had zero issues what so ever.

Does anyone know what the current size of our radiators are?? I ask because I am curious what CFM of air is crossing the radiator at 70mph or even at 45mph for that matter. I would be willing to bet that it is a lot more than the capability of the stock fan. I could be wrong but isnt the fan only really useful for like in stop and go situations, which then only really require a small amount of additional air flow for cooling because the heat generation rates due to engine load is a lot less?? Other than that I would think by simply driving down the road would create sufficient air flow to cool the motor. I have at least experienced this to be the case in my brother's jeep when his fan died on him.

I guess what I am getting at is, that IMO the engine does not produce a whole lot of heat that cant be removed by the 6000CFM that these fans produce even while towing at low speeds and then once at speed, the cross flow of air (I would think) would be more than the capacity of the fan anyways such as to basically render it in effective. Again this is my thought on the subject. I am happy to discuss and thanks to the OP for the start of the discussion.

i remember hearing someone say the stock fan is rated at 10K cfm's and the electric fan's are rated at 6200 cfm's i think. There is a dial on the VSC so that you can have them come on whenever you want depending on where you have the temp probe at in the radiator.

just take the back half of the fan shroud out and there will be a lot more room.

Exactly Brody! Just removing the fan stator and rear fan shrouding gives enough room to work on stuff. Only reason i added these is because i got them dirt cheap from a buddy of mine who was doing a cummins swap on his superduty and they didn't fit on his truck.

Those are the numbers that I remember seeing as well and I just dont see what 10k is going give over 6k at 40 mph. I could be wrong but am pretty sure I would be able to tow the max rating for my truck's hitch at 12.5k lbs. JMO.

im sure the fans work well on Chris's truck, but i had them on my last truck(chevy 6.0 gasser) and they wouldnt keep up when towing light loads with the a/c on and 85* weather.
