and also with the flex-a-lite fans you can also have them come on or be turn off manually with a switch that can be wired to the VSC controller as an option.

Interesting. Well IIRC I remember reading somewhere that Flex-a-lite recommends a gross vehicle combined weight of 18000 lbs with the 7.3L fans, which would be plenty for my truck as long as that would actually be the case.

I havn't had time to read the wiring diagram yet, but since I am an electrician, it shouldn't be to terribly hard to wire them up. I'm really interested in this mod, especially since I don't tow extremely heavy often at all and you can have them come on manually with a switch.

Those are the numbers that I remember seeing as well and I just dont see what 10k is going give over 6k at 40 mph. I could be wrong but am pretty sure I would be able to tow the max rating for my truck's hitch at 12.5k lbs. JMO.
here is my take
I can hear my fan (stock) come on during the summer while doing 65 and see the temp drop

so it is doing something at higher speeds imho

I am definitely not saying your stock fan isnt doing anything, but rather asking if anyone knows how much it is doing and if so would the electric fan not be enough. I am inclined to think that it would so I guess I will have to man up and give it a try and see if I notice any difference in temps.

Only heard my fan come on once and it was towing about 12k in 100* weather up a 2.5 mile 8% grade lol

I've noticed no temp difference between the oil and coolant from before the electric fans to now. Temps have stayed the same.

Yea that's what Im talking about Chris. For me anyways, the only downside I see is the price but I love sticking different non-oem stuff on my truck and watching it still run. These are definitely in my future.

I run a single 18" electric fan out of a Lincoln Mark VIII with the same VSC from Flex-a-lite fans.
Zero issues at all. (But the fan I have is rated at 4300 cfm)

I had bought a used dual fan set up off a member of one of the forums I frequent, and was going to put it on...but its in way to rough of shape to even consider taking the chance of overheating a new engine.

I have another 18" Lincoln Mark VIII fan that I may try to build a dual 18" setup for my truck. (they may have to be stepped. as they will over lap each other no matter what.)

Been trying to find the actual cfm numbers for the 18" Lincoln Mark VIII fans I have...for the years I have, the common cfm rating is between 4300-4900cfm on the high setting. (No wonder it has never overheated.:LOL

...maybe have one fan on manual, and leave the other on the controller...
It's gonna take some fab'n to make the two mount together, so I will push this off for a winter project. (As long as I'm not rebuilding this engine again...):flush:

i have had my fan come on a bunch. but i guess 115*+ air temps will do that.
