Electrical fluctuations issue

Posted this elsewhere no luck yet thought I would try here...

My truck is a 99 7.3L F350 4x4

As of recently I've noticed slight electrical fluctuations in the system.

In other words, my lights flicker ever so slightly but it's noticeable and as a result, my fuel economy has gone down severely and at around 65 or so my truck starts to stutter slightly like the injectors aren't fully operational.

It's got new batteries.

Fairly newer alternator (replaced last year)

I checked the battery cables connections at the batteries and starter all seems good.

Voltmeter reads 15v at idle.

Any ideas? My mpg has dropped -4 and I'm worried about the injectors stuttering like they are.

You checked you UVCH? Pulled valve covers and make sure you don't have any loose connections? Frayed wires?

15V seems pretty high at idle speed. I dont recall seeing that much (maybe 14.3 at regulated max, 13-1400rpm) -- your batteries wont like it long term. Perhaps some checking needs done there...

If the light flickering matches the miss, Id be looking at power supply wiring, injector supply wiring for grounds, shorts, etc. Electrical is a pain

:whs:

I believe 15v is out of spec. Maybe a voltage regulation issue?

Thanks guys,

It turned out to be the alternator!
The regulator was not operating at spec and was over charging the system causing all my issues.

Got it fixed running great once again!
