Any ideas what would cause the valve to break? Piece of turbo fin maybe?

what is the build date? the 2010 and 2011 builds had issues with valves cracking on their own.

I can check. Its one of the first 6.7. It has 120,000 miles on it roughly.

05/10 stock its whole life . Lovely to know. My personal truck is a 09/10 and its been tuned for pretty much its whole life.

All 8 glow plugs still fully in tact? We have had a few 6.7's break the tips off and trash cylinders

yup-sounds typical. they had a casting flaw in a batch of valves. i would see if the dealer with do something for you.

some of them broke like yours, some dropped the whole head of the valve off.

Glow plugs looked fine. Any one have success with just throwing new valves back in the and running it?

A new Engine is $24k re/re, one from the wrecker is $14k re/re. Only half the panels are straight. The int is cloth and vinyl floors
Its a bush work truck.

I don't know nothin, but I think you'd be fine. But your that far into it. If the cylinder wall is good it wouldn't cost that much more to put a new piston in at least. Again I'm just thinking out loud. Don't take my word for it.

Yeah the cylinder looks. Only the one head is taken off. Big job to pull that cylinder off?

If youre that far in, and the head is already off, I would definitely spring for a new piston

throw a piston in and fix that valve and roll with it...especially if its a work truck kinda thing

Installed otd, yes. In canada anyways.

Pulled both heads and all the exhaust valves are cracked. At least the 6.0 and 6.4 were cheaper to fix their issues.

Found a engine with 20k miles for $7k at the wreckers. $10k fix.
