How are the outer hubs set up on these? I would like to make one an 8 lug and SRW width to slide under my project truck. How difficult would that be?

OBS and pre OBS F-SUPERDUTY 10 lug trucks, they have a solid 2wd front axle rather than the twin I-beam setup

I havnt seen one of those in a few years so Im not much help. Whats wrong with the TIB on all the 2wd? If its weight I cant see it be that much if at all lighter. They are also a leaf spring setup, so keep that in mind as well.

I believe they are set up like the 450 superduty. I would think the dually adapters could be removed and leave the 8 lug 8x6.5 pattern behind. I am not positive though as it has been a few years since I have had my hands on one.

Why do you want a solid front axle under your project truck?

I have decided to go with a bagged suspension and a solid front axle will allow me to set the truck on the frame without having the geometry of the camber change, causing the tires to "sit out". It would also be vastly more cost efficient than a set of lowering beams and the correct suspension adjustments that would be required to accommodate the added weight of the diesel engine.

I will be c-notching the frame and doing some relocation of underhood components. It is not really a difficult task when you get down to the nuts and bolts of it. A project like this is very foreign to most people around here so I am planning on keeping a very detailed project log.

The suspension will be the first thing I do, then I plan on tackling the chop-top, shaving, and tail light frenching. Third will be the driveline, fourth will be paint and aesthetics, fifth will be interior, sixth will be power.

I don't think the I beam solid axles have enough drop to clear the engine

What about building a custom front axle like what you would find under a low pro international 4600? With a drop built into the axle?
same concept, the actual "beam" part of the axle sits a good 4-6" lower than the spindles

I was waiting for you to chime in, and I am glad that you are here. I don't think that style of axle will have clearance issues, but I could very well be overlooking something. I am also open for suggestions on how to lower the front.
