FASS titanium lift pump install

Has anyone installed the titanium series lift pump? I got mine in, and it requires me to cut into my factory tank to insert a larger straw to draw more fuel from. All the others I've had were just plug n play. Do I have to install the larger straw or can I skip those steps?

i would just go ahead and do a fuel sump, but thats just me.
