FICM tunes

I want to get a performance FICM tune and was wondering who out there is running tuned FICM's and what they think. I know Swamps, KEM, PHP and Innovative all tune FICM's. I've heard that Innovative is gonna start doing remote tuning and that would be awesome (no down time), but I'm close to PHP, KEM and could make it up to Swamps on my way to our place in TN as well. Just curious about what everyone thinks about these different companies and their FICM tunes or is it just like SCT tunes, personal preference?

Honestly, if you are located right by a shop that does them...try 'em out. I'm sure if you have a problem, or wanted something tweaked, they would do it. (And they are right there to see what you are taalking about....not on the other end of an e-mail, or phone line.)

Swamps uses PHP tuning...

Honestly I dont think you could go wrong with any of them. Im going with PHP simply because there is a place within driving distance from me that has a gryphon that can flash it for me with php's tune so I dont have to wait for a remote programmer or wait for mine while i send it out.

Ive heard a lot of good things about Erics flash and KEM's, KEM is more expensive than IDP and IDP is more expensive than PHP

your call :pimp:

Yeah, I agree, but I was under the impression that FICM tunes were pretty much standard, not like the custom tunes we run on our SCT's. That's why I'm asking about the FICM tuning, I don't know much about it other than guys are reporting quicker spool up and improved throttle response.

What I really want is for someone to explain it to me and for some of the guys running different companies FICM tunes to tell me what they noticed after their FICM was tuned.

I could be wrong here but regardless of a tuned FICM and a regular 58v FICM you are still able to gain 40hp regardless. So I have to say that unless someones FICM tune is going to give you 20 or more hp beyond that that you will not be able to tell any difference. The differences may lie in the fact that some tunes may help the truck start/run better when its cold or something to that effect. But I dont think it is reasonable to be looking for 50-60+HP gains by simply switching out a FICM. Just sayin.

I've got a 58v FICM already with the stock tune. A few guys have told me that the performance tune on the FICM made a big difference over the stock tuned 58v.

Yes if uou tuned the ficm you would notice the increase big time. I think what windrunner is saying is stock flash 48v to stock flash 58v you wont notice a power gain

I noticed a difference just pulling my factory 06 4pin FICM and putting an older 7pin on with older programming. Truck starts way easier, injectors buzz insanely fast compared to the 06 FICM when I first turn the key, and idle was much smoother. Also made a sticky injector disappear. Both FICM's test 48.x volts at all operations. Interesting...

I have been wondering the same thing as I just bought a spare FICM and plan on sending it out after Christmas.
Not many people have an extra FICM so its probably hard to get the answers we are looking for. I may send both of mine out to be done at different places.

Thats cool. I think any of these companies would have good FICM tunes. I'm just curious what people who have the tunes have noticed with power, throttle response and econ.

Mike@KEM does do them custom specific to your mods. our 6.0 shop truck has one for his 190s and 64mm and its sweet

That would be cool if the truck was finished, but since I plan on more mods (turbo and injectors) it would be a waste to spend the extra money on a tune totally specific to my current mods. I would however be interested in talking to KEM after the modding has stopped. I'd kinda like to try one of their SCT tunes along with Matt at Gearhead.

I believe the 58v will still operate the spool valves quicker for a more complete fuel burn.

Throttle response is perfect with a tune loaded. Really big difference with the stock tune. It runs snappier with a bite like that. I have noticed one thing. It changes small things, you just have to know what they are to realize and feel it. Its not really a power mod its a make your $hit run better and smoother mod. Its a big factor, I think, in why I can take off on a cold start and be smooth running about it. Thats what a Ficm tune is for. When you lock and click all those things it changes together then you unlock a little horsepower but that not gonna be what your looking for in doing this. I love it and have another good 48v ficm I want to get 58v and probably another idp tune.

Im gonna say go idp for a tune. He sure as hell knows how to tune a truck well. I just have a soft spot for thinking he is the best for good quality 6.0 tuning. like smooth and power wise. Im not really interested in the rest except for 58v mods. but this is just my opinion.

What about the tune nearly eliminating any turbo lag? Thats something some other guys have reported.

Any sponsers who tune FICM's, please feel free to chime in and explsin what your tunes will accomplish.
