Sup Everyone, about two weeks ago I done what my Dad done 6 years ago (followed shortly by 2 of my uncles) and bought myself a Powerstroke.
I traded my 06 Hemi Ram 1500 for this 06 F250 CCSB Lariat. I had alot of people outside of my family try to steer me clear of the 6.0 but ever since I rode in dad's 04 w/ the Edge Attitude w/ Juice, AEM Brute Force Intake, & 4" Turbo Back Silverline Exhuast w/ Muffler Delete, I was hooked.
Now of course Dad and all my uncles had their troubles with their 6.0s, and one of my uncles moved on to a 6.7, but my Dad and my other uncle would never get rid of their 6.0s. I plan to go a different route then they did though. I want to prove to all my friends (and my uncle who converted) that the 6.0s can be reliable if the right steps are taken. I want to keep my 6.0 running good up until the point I have the money saved up to do the studs/egr delete.
Now to key to doing this is I wanted to find a 6.0 that had a pretty clean oasis report. Hard to do I know, there is a bunch out there with bad reports, and that's just the ones I could even get reports on. Most lots wouldn't even give me the reports. My truck only ever went in for warranty work 1 time and that was at 16K for a replacement turbo. I'm sure that was due to the owner babying it and the vanes getting stuck. The truck now has 73K miles on it and the only thing I've done to it is replace the 6 year old Motorcraft 750cca batteries w/ some new 850cca Motorcrafts and have the FICM updated to the latest program.
My first plans are to flush the coolant and install a Coolant bypass filter, change the fuel filters and install the blue spring mod, and change the oil and switch to Rotella Synthetic 5w-40 oil. I will then go from there.
