It's because many many people will never go farther than a tune and exhaust, that's why 6.4's are still highly touted.. That and 6.7'a are still out of the price range of many, or if they aren't they aren't getting big time mods.

But I have to agree just add a cp3 and a modded 15 turbo and opinions quickly change.

We are both all too familiar with how wicked that set up is

6.7's are cheaper and better, but the trucks they're wrapped in are $10-15k more

6.4's will get less and less popular as they age because parts and labor are so high on them and will continue to get pricier as they age out. The 6.7 is present and future. Easier to work on, you don't have to pay the double-OEM mark-up like you do with International-born parts, etc. etc. etc.

But the 6.4 is still a legend. Most capable factory diesel pickup by a long ways. Trans is beast mode too.

Ford had the fox platform... and they had the panther platform...

the 6.4 was the ****ing liger platform! :D

I don't know if I'd call a stock tranny in a 6.4 a beast. I've seen several shucked on stock fuel and a tune..

I don't know what people are doing with them then... My service truck weighed 10,000lbs and ran HD300 or GH race the whole time I owned it, and I put the spurs to it 10 times a day. I put just shy of 100k on it and bought it with just over 100!

Name a stock pickup trans that will hold up to more :)

6.7's are a good motor. But they still have flaws too. They are not the end all be all. And neither is the 6.4. But the 6.4 has something that the 6.7 doesn't, a bed plate. One of the strongest bottom ends you can get. Yes they have crappy rocker arms and the heads don't flow nearly as well. But for God sake it's not some freaking throw away piece of junk.

Just put S partan "600" on a buddies 15 its quick, IMO it will give a T/D 6.4 run for its money with that being said I kinda want to put the good ole 310 on my 6.4 DRW and see what the turn out will be LOL.
