Maybe one or two people.

General conclusion is though that the money and work, isnt worth it. Nothing will cool as well as the stock fan.

But, if you dont tow, then it could free up a few ponies for you.

I know the SD Flex-a-Lite kit takes a lot of modification to fit, just an FYI

It's for a race truck so cooling is no worry an towing is out :D

How much modification? Be honest. I'm not looking for a headache

I personally think the electric fan would be worth it on a race truck even if it took some fab work.

I'm not into things looking cheeseball. I want it clean. That's why I'm curious just how this type of mod has turned out for others.

Only as cheeseball as the way you mount it.

Uhh, no. Im not fabbing some mustang junk up to fit my truck. I want form and function, as I do with anything else on it.

Have you ever seen a Flez-a-lite setup? Friggin clean!

I think there might be intercooler benifits.

Tom, somebody mentioned tonight that they thought there was a Flex-a-lite kit available for a f150. Again, the mounting would most likely be different as well as CFM ratings. Im not sure how much loss there would be, if any, between that of a small block gasser and a big block diesel set of fans.

Danny, I will PM Ryan. Didn't you end up ditching your fans?

I had 2 electric fans on my drag truck, but you wouldn't like the set-up because it was cheese with a capital 'C'.
Anyway, I think it worked great for that application.
Turn the fans off to warm it up fast, then run the fans to cool it down at idle after the run.
The electric will cool faster at idle because you're not relying on rpm for the oem fans.

Good luck.

Mustang or Crown Vic Fan "C"heesed up in the factory shroud works well for a non tow vehicle.
I don't have anything good to say about the flexilite setup, but Function over form and looks should be the priority not the other way around.

Didn't you have them on Danny's truck? I wanna say you guys ditched them and their on Richard's truck now.

I should clarify "cheeseball".... I'm not gonna buy an electric fan off eBay and zip tie it to the radiator like some would have. I want a fan shroud incorporated into the fan system. As David said, I could use the factory shroud BUT I'd rather run a dual fan setup with a nice sheetmetal cap. Whether I can use Flex-a-lite's or not, I'm not sure. Having one stamped wouldn't be hard either, honestly.

Good info to have from you guys that have ran them!

Ya, we ditched them after they ditched us in a most desolate part of Utah.
On the brite side we got to experience Utah in a most unusual and intimate way that I found to be very relaxing.

You didn't get to see much of Utah then...because where you broke down is paradise compared to the southeastern part of the state. You were lucky enough to be in a place that at least at a creek running through it for quick radiator refills.

Running up and down the side of a cliff to fill up a 12oz water bottle trying to fill up a radiator isn't my idea of relaxing! LOL

I have a set of SD Flex-a-lites on the shelf for my OBS. I've taken every measurement I can think of and everything I see says they should fit my '95 with no problems. Slight modification to mounting brackets, but that's all I see different. The shroud for the E-fans is pretty much dead nuts the same size as my stock fan shroud.

I will find out before long how much suck is involved with installing them on an OBS, but it doesn't look like it will suck too bad.
