My limited experience for your research. I have 175k on my 6.0 at the moment and no fears of driving it anywhere with these miles, only making 400hp, just your typical tuned truck. I bought it with 49k on it, tuned (Innovatives Xtreme race) at 73k, always had a winter cold start issue (never plugged in, always eventually started on its own) that finally got remidied with 6 injectors at 92k, finally blew the top end at 113k, studded, new heads, oil cooler, delete, etc. Basically I am happy, go pedal usually touches the floor at least once every time I drive it, it's run down the strip maybe 30 times, tow up to 10k on the race tune and just drive it.

If you get that truck and fully expect to do that work at some point or another you should be fine.

The Lariat truck was on eBay and sold 15 minutes before I logged on to buy it. Back to searching...looking at the 6.4s some too. Can't find anything much around $18 - 20k that doesn't have 170k+ miles, at least a 6.0 with those miles are around $15k. Is 170k a lot for a 6.4?

Nope. Ex brother in law has an 08, been spartan tuned since 30k or so, and his truck runs fine, no issues. I think he has 150k on the clock now.

Personally I'd stay with the 6.0 if it was me. 6.4's are fun to play with, but a good example is one of my fleet guys has an 08 thats was deleted at 76k. has 120k on it now with a motor I just got done rebuilding. new pistons, heads, gaskets, and studs. A nice 9k bill when it could of been a couple grand if it was a 6.0. And all he does is haul his tools around. No Thanks. 6.0 FTW here.
