Just replaced a sensor and regulator on the driver's side fuel rail. In order to do the work, a rail shield/guard had to be removed. The shield was attached to the engine using push tab pins similar to body tabs. I suspect these tabs became hardened by engine heat but I had absolutely no luck removing them without breaking off the top, flat section. The "pin" section for three of the four fasteners remain in the machined section of the valve cover.
How important is this shield? I can't think of an efficient/easy way to remove the broken pieces of plastic pin to reinstall the shield.
