Fuel tank pickup screen

Should I get a new pickup with screen or because I run efuel just get rid of the screens? Anyone just get rid of the pickup tube?

If I were to go through the trouble again, I would get sumps.
But... I just ran some diesel rated line to the bottom of the tank with a brass t on the bottom. (So it doesn't suction to the tank)

I wanted sumps but spent pretty much all of my money with a new oil cooler/rear mount, wiring harness, bypass oil sytem and so on. :/

I have E-Fuel and still utilize the shower heads.

I'll give my personal experience here. My 97 broke both shower heads off. Left my buddy stranded 3 hours from home when i let him use the truck. Clogged my selector valve, and it stuck between positions. Bought a new selector valve, dropped the tanks, cleaned, went along with my business. I have had nothing but problems since. Anytime the truck is ran below 1/4 tank, it sucks up yet another piece of rubber into the sending unit, because unless you have like 6 foot long skinny arms, you can't properly clean out an obs front tank. I thought i had gotten everything out of the front tank. Had a flashlight and mirror in the tank and everything last go around. Left the old lady stranded a few days ago. I will be swapping to a sd 38 gallon front tank soon, and it will no longer be a problem. They cause nothing but problems, and WILL fall apart. Im sure there is either a metal contraption with a screen to rig up on the sending unit if you're that worried about it.

Its a few compression fittings, some steel brake line, and a tape measure, it's fairly easy if you're at all mechanically inclined.

I don’t use mine - took them out long ago. Those screens are too restrictive imo. Bought an extra sending unit from @Cletusjermal that had the hutchmod deal done on it and it’s going into my 60gal

Titan tank.

Another idea I had was to just make my own pick up tube and use 1/2 “ tubes for both the suction and return. 1/2 back down to 3/8” to plumb right into the stock lines.

I removed the screen. Just get rid of the plastic rubber sunction cone?

Yeah mine has the screen assembly completely removed and just a pipe straight down for fuel. Never had any issues. Never had the 1/4 empty deal either b/c I didn’t keep the rubber foot on there for too long.
