Running a fresh .030 over bore, I've heard some that are all for them and some that are against them. Input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Just stay away from running both gapless rings. Either run the top ring gapless and the second stock or vise versa. If you run both gapless compression gets caught inbetween and can cause the rings to chatter(at least it happens on race motors). But I would definately run the gapless if I were doing my motor.

Is there a preferred location (bottom or top)?

The negative on gapless rings is a lack of blowby to keep the oil rings clean (on a stock application).... this isn't an issue on a performance build because the larger cylinder pressures let enough get by to do the job.
