Anyone using one of these? I just discovered they have a Shop close to where i live. And im interested in one especially since im soon going to be moving across the country and would love some extra gearing on my zf6. I guess what I'm asking is are they worth the money? And do they last?

I have a couple. They work well in the right application. Unless you have at least 4:30 gears I dont see you towing in double overdrive. I gained 2-3 mpg but i started at 9 so.... How is your truck set up now and how much are you going to tow?

Any benefit outside of towing like in a DD application? IE benefit vs cost for those of us that aren't hauling heavy for long distances everyday

You would see about a 500 rpm drop. How does your truck react at that rpm range? Next let's say you gain 2mpg. How long will it take you to pay that off. (That is highway btw). There about 3000.00 installed. Are you a Ronco rotiisserie driver? You will be shifting. It can not be engaged while engine braking. These are highway units. I never even turn mine on in town. That's the bad. I love the extra gears towing. I love the mileage . 16mpg 80mph 4:30 in a 10,000 lb truck. 13 I guess with out my other mods. Hell yeah. I just know there not for everyone. Oil change every 10,000. Those are the basics.

Gotcha...I'm running a similar setup weight and gearing wise. 4.30s with the Tow Boss F-350. I don't really know that I need them and have considered dropping to 3.73s but haven't yet commited to that idea. Thanks for the info

Have you looked at the cost for decent gearing in those axles. Its unreal! Its been a few years maybe its cheaper now.

Scratch that upon reread I see yours is a F 350.

I have thought about putting on in My pickup to... Just cant get past the price!!!

I have a 97 F-350 with 3.55s and a ZF6 Trasmission.. Used to have 4.10s with a ZF5

Just not shore how good it would do with my current set up.... I would be around 1500@70 MPH..... And I am going to switch from 235/85R16 to 255/85R16 And that would put me around 1400@70!!! I would have plenty of power to pull it... And the turbo would still be putting out boost @ those RPMs so it would and should not smoke.. Of course smoke out put is all in the tunning...

I am afraid i might go to low of RPMs and there for loose what i want to gain...

Yeah running 4.30s and stock tires...I'm at 2000 rpms right at 60 mph....not a fun situation when it's also your daily driver. The grunt off the line with the 4.30s is great just unsure of how difficult a gear swap would be...thinking 3.73s or 3.55s

Yours sounds like it is setup quite well. I dont think it would benefit you.

If you dont do much in town driving. I think you would love the gv. You can also just leave it off as well while your in town. Its just cost and application. Gears would cost you about 1000.00 in parts (just a guess) plus labor. Unless you do them yourself. Which is not that bad either.

how much do you haul with it? I will be in the 20-30k range.

Last time I weighed in it was 29,200. You got to have quite a bit of power to tow in double overdrive with 4:30. I run in the 400, 450 hp range.

So you think 1400 to 1500rpms @ 70 would be to low and would hurt economy???

Seems low. Just depends on your truck I guess.

Agree. Im not sure what turbo you have but I think thats pretty low on the map for most turbos we run.

This is what I have for a turbo.... Holset HX55 with a Billet 66/99 comp Wheel.. and a .90 A/R exhaust side The exhaust wheel is 86/80..

I see boost (with VERY light throttle) starting @1350rpms.. Might be lower If I step on it...

I will be using a 500hp 7.3 to power my truck. Also has a 4.30 rear which is why i am looking into methods of dropping my cruising rpm. I have already looked into taller tires and will prob be using this to help a little if i can not get to my goals by using different drive train combinations. Do you have a part number for the specific gv unit that you use or is there only one?

Sounds like you would be right at the bottom. I will do some research tomorrow. Where did you get it?

There is just one. Just different mounts. That is one cranked up 7.3. Is that max output or towing level?
