GEM problems

Lately I've been having some electrical issues with my truck. First my turn signal switch started to blow anywhere from 5 mins of driving to a couple hours, so I replaced the relay and power wire and it still is happening. And now my windows won't roll down and the door jam switch stopped working. I had a mechanic that I always go to for work check it out and they said it was probably the GEM module. I've looked on eBay for some and on the internet but they are hard to find and I don't want to pay 600 bucks for a refurbished one. What is the best option for this? Also I read that you can't just get a used one and plug it in because it has to be programmed for your truck is that true?

Look around for someone that repairs them. I used to have a guy that would fix gem modules and chevy gauge clusters for our fleet for 120 bucks flat fee.
