I couldn't find them under $300 until I stumbled on mine. $150 is a really good price too.

You can put the lock cylinder from your old tailgate right in the new one. That way your regular key works. That's what I did to mine.

My old one was a cheap aftermarket replacement from the dealer i bought the truck from so it didnt have a lock on it

I couldnt figure out how to make it work other that cutting the one off my old tailgate and welding it to my new one. It was $9 so its not a big deal.

The one on the bed is. thats what I bought but I have the step so the one on the tailgate wont fit the one on the bed thats why i had to order a new one.

Make sure you do the hose clamp mod. Those things can be gone in 15 seconds without it.

Thats how the seller got it...there was an article in a chicago newspaper about a craiglist seller stealing tailgates off of 08+ super duty trucks. They set the value of each tailgate he had at 3500 dollars. He had 60+ tailgates. He went away.for.a long.time.

I live near Chicago and found mine on craigs list for $300, pretty sure it is hot. One time I was at the ford store thinking about trading in the 6.0l, and the salesmen noticed I had an 08 gate on my 03, he said that's why we lock all our tailtates as I grab it and open it, o I guess I better get the key he said, I just laughed and got in my truck and left.
