I installed a ww2 in my stock turbo, there was a little shaft play in the turbo. When I went to spin it in the truck there was a spot where it barely rubbed. When I started the truck there was a slight squeak every now and again. I guess it needs rebuilt. Or did i fubar the install somehow. Shaft play was minimal but still would move a hair up and down. I really dont want to run that truck like that .Where can I get a rebuild kit for it?

so you pushed it up and down and side to side and a spot rubbed while pushing on it and spinning it at the same time? is there any in and out play at all?

I didn't notice any rubbing when I had the turbo on the bench but I really didn't spin it much, only when I was almost done I spun it and there was a stiff spot almost. But no, no in and out play

if you cant push side to side or up to down and hit the housing then its fine... especially if there is no in and out play....

It just touches the housing to make noise in one spot, up and down movement. I ordered a rebuild kit and decided to do the pedestal for another 100 while it is out. I don't want to ruin that new wheel, maybe that is why my boost numbers have been lower.

ok so it does contact it then... yeah thats not good..... i just read it as you could push on it and it wouldn't hit the housing but just had a stiff spot in it while spinning it and pushing on it at the same time... either way, a rebuild wont hurt it a bit.

Yeah that's that I figured for 70 bucks, it can't hurt a 188k turbo. The bad part is, I have to drive it all this week to work. Hope I don't FUBAR that new wheel. It shouldn't it was barely touching it.

The 94mm wheel in my GT55 snuggled up with the housing real nice a while back when I lost lube oil for a second. Apparently if it's a smooth rubbing it's acceptable to just dress the wheel up with some sandpaper, lol.

If you stay out of the boost it shouldn't hit unless the charger is way bad off. If it's that bad you should hear it contacting when you shut the engine off and it's spinning down.

Is there any write ups on this? Parts came in today, I may make one if there isn't one already out there.

Got done with the rebuild today, truck seems to have a 6.4 turbo sound when I leave over the throttle and boost bleeds off. I installed a ebpv delete outlet and ww2 with the rebuild.. is this normal? Rebuild went smooth. I'm at a lost, seems to be making slightly lower boost #s. Checked for exhaust leaks and didnt see any soot yet
