I just put on a mini max two weeks ago and cant tow with it. My temps ( oil, trans, and coolant) get out of range when towing 9000 lbs. I have my defuel settings set to recomended specs. I have tried the now power on hot dam and the 120. They all defuel at about the same time. I towed this amount regularly with my Livewire on the120 tune and also my KEM 150 tune and never got hot in one area let alone all three at once. . Any ideas?

What is the defuel temps on all of those monitors? The factory default defuel setting were quite modest, and obviously set on the safe side. What are your temps? I got my oil up over 215 and even up to 220, but that was towing 18,000 pounds up a mountain... and coolant temps were in the 210-215 range, and tranny got up around 220 as well. No way you should be anywhere near that towing 9,000.... go see what temps you are set to defuel. and adjust them a bit. Just know that your 6.4 can take a bit more then the H&S default settings. esp if you have ditched the DPF...

I have also deleted both dpf and egr. Like I said I have never had a temp issue in the past. Just started with the switch to the mini max.

What parameter are you defueling on? It will say on the Mini Maxx screen when it happens.

Cooling fan will increase speed commanded from the ECU at around 220 degrees, so 230 defuel there is pretty good.

Trans temp I would say you can raise a bit. Take it up to 230-240. If you can keep the converter locked, it will really help with temps there.

Oil temp should remain relatively close to coolant temp, perhaps slightly lower.

Good information. Thanks Bentley.:ford:

It usually starts with defueling oil then switches to transmission or coolant. It is like all three max out at the same time. I will raise my transmission up to 230. The main time I have issues is at lower speeds. I live in the foothills and the speed limit is 35. I appreciate your feedback. My dad put his mini on a week earlier then I did and has not had the issues I have. I am going to bear lake next week so I will try it again.

Bentley, what transmission setting would you recommend?

Did you update it before you installed?

I did update it. I just purchased it two weeks ago and did the latest update. One thing I did notice that was weird is that when I was using s2m, when it would down shift from 5 to 4, it would still say my tc was still locked in fourth. Maybe that is normal.

Yup, It will stay locked in 4th, so long as you dont get below lockup speed.
