Refresh my memory. Did we discuss block prep in this thread?

I am also not familiar with extreme studs. What lube do they use and on both the top and bottom of threads?

Yes extreme studs use lube on top and bottom. I used the recommended engine assembly lube.

Block prep was done with a flat board and 320 grit sandpaper.

Maybe it was just talking about the top threads but I think I put it on top and bottom.

Thats why i'm wondering if the studs backed out. THe purpose of lube is to allow you to get to a given torque without galling the threads. When you are putting the studs in the block, you are just seating them-not achieving a max torque.

So that narrows out 2 things. Studs backing out and stretching. All that's left is block prep and head surface. How are they checking your block surface?

Seems he got it back pretty quickly! Good to know! Everything good? Anything to tell what caused all this?

Well Matt said it's hard to prove but he thinks the heads weren't flat.

This was after surface sanding, you can see the low spots.

How's the truck running? I popped my head gasket now, so I'm in the market for a reputable RELIABLE shop to do my studs and gaskets..
