Heater Fan Issue

I have a 99 Super Duty and my heater fan quit working on position 2. I read somewhere that there is a resistor that goes bad and takes out the 2 position on the fan motor. I just want to make sure before I go and buy a fan motor.

Anybody know anything about this?

Is the resistor in the fan motor?

It's bolted to the heater box itself. Underneath the hood below the fan.
