heater issue....

:wtf:Anyone have any heater issues? I drove to a bussness and let my truck idle when I was inside maybe 10 min came out and it was blowing cold air. drove it a half block and it started working fine. whats going on with it?

Sounds like a stuck open t-stat but it is also normal for these trucks as idling them cools the motor off. The cooling system was over engineered.

IT DID IT THIS MORNING. HEATER WAS WORKING AND THEN JUST CUT OUT AND I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. YESTERDAY I DROVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT DID THAT THEN THE TEMP GOT REAL HIGH THEN THE T STAT OPENED AND IT COOLED OFF QUICKLY THEN GOT HOT AGAIN ONLY TO THE M OR THE L OF NORMAL.

Like Billy said first. Then IIRC 96 and 97 originally came with a sightly lower temp T-stat than a 95, and the 95 T-stat will not work in the 96 and 97 engine. I bought a 203* T-stat from a online source and it work well year round. So changing the T-stat would be next on my list.
