Looks to me like the high pressure vanes might be stuck without a video or more info I won't be more help. It would help to know what the vgt duty cycle is at the time of the noise.

If the oil has been that hot in the turbos there is a good chance the other turbo is no good either

The other turbo looked perfect wasnt wore or anything. Didnt even need rebuilt. But i rebuilt it while it was apart less than 100 mile ago. Iam not sure if i should drive it or not. It still runs fine and builds boost but after i shut it off and heard the hp turbo making funky noises while spooling down it has me kinda worried. I havent tore it back apart yet to see the condition of it yet tho. But when it was apart i opened and closed the vanes and they opened and closed properly. well i believe to be properly. I didnt notice any wear or damage to the unison ring.

Ok i data logged the truck today i just drove it around the block, which is probally round mile and half. Can i post the data log somewhere where people can see it so i can get some assistance. Or could someone explain what is normal and not so i know what to look for. the vgt duty cycle does seem to decrease as rpms increase. I wasnt sure what all to record so i recorded vgt duty cycle, dpf psi, engine rpm, exhaust back pressure in volts, exhaust backpressure absoulte in psi, exhaust back pressure desired in psi, accelerator pedal pos. in percentage, egr valve pos actual in percent and engine oil temp in degrees. Iam not sure what some of these values should be but did notice when it got over ten psi the dpf psi would jump up to 1.45 which i believe is maxxed out on AE? Anyone out there That can give me some info?

What you need to be looking at is boost and its correlation to backpressure and vgt duty cycle. The high pressure takes the brunt of all that force.. Can you give us those numbers in relation to RPMs?

I wish i could of read boost pressure on ae i couldnt find the setting for boost in ae. Iam gonna go out in just a few and tear it apart and see what everything looks like, probably rebuild the hp side turbo and put dpf delete on.

UPDATE: got the turbos out and and got the vgt seperated from the cartridge. I believe that the vgt was sticking some. Also i noticed that one of the vanes wasnt posisitioned correctly on the unison ring. So how does one go about cleaning one of these? it looks like i would just pop out the three or four bolts holding it in the housing. Not really sure if theres anything special to look out for or any tips to help the cleaning process. There dosent appear to be any damage to anything that i have looked at so far. Thanks, Eric

Where did you end up in this? I have a 6.4 with same symptoms. Just rebuilt both turbos. Squeal is from high pressure. Does it even with the compressor housing off. No up pipe leaks amd will do it at idle by cycling VGT. Otherwise will start doing it at 1500 Rpm and get progressively worse.
