Does anyone here have knowledge or even have a high idle mod? I do custom grape harvesting in the fall and after you work 20+hrs a shift you wanna get home as fast as possible. I also have the 11 6.7 and have heard numerous of times that the early models had trouble with the glow plugs so I have a funny feeling mine will go bad this winter, my baby has 171k and still going strong.

Dont these trucks have an electric supplemental heater? Why need the high idle?

My duraturd (i know, i know different trucks ) would sit outside all night, all winter. Id fire it off, go back in, get my coffee, and turn back around go outside and take off. It'd throw hrat wuick.

Dzchey thanks for looking, don't want to start a thread if there is already one that covers this.

Ty I have no idea I have just seen a few people who have done it and are happy with it.

I have and use it more than I thought I would. I got mine from BD Diesel, they call it the high idle kit and it cost around $65. Took about 15 minutes to hook it up.

True. And now that you said that i do have the high idle turned on in the kbz and newer duramaxes. My old psd i just physically let the idle settle and then wham, i have a 1300rpm tune to help move oil, air, and fuel.

Didn't mean to piss on your desires my friend! :D

no. not all.. its like a 3500 dollar add on..
Can you adjust how high it idles or is it set at a default level?
you can wire in a resistor from the pto power wire to the 3rd from left factory upfitter switch. runs 1300 rpm. just have to set the e-brake and flip the switch and be in park.. cost me like 3 bucks and 10 minutes.. i have a few resistors left too..

No its not like 6.0s there has to be a resistor in the system to tell the ECM what your desired RPM is, mine has a rheostat so its adjustable

The only time I use mine is when I am hooked up to another truck jump starting it. Other than that ford has done a pretty good job of keeping the rpm's up when its cold (almost too aggressive)

ford did do a good job. but in the winter, the coolant system does to good of a job and after it shuts high idle off, it cools the truck back down and doesnt blow hot air.

Yall don't let your trucks warm up in the morning? I use high idle on every truck I've had to let them warm up in the morning. Plus I'm sure on a dpf/egr equipped truck, I would only guess it's easier on the dpf, and less likely to clog up the intake system.
