If the truck won't crank then a smart thief will start looking for switches like that, but if it cranks and doesn't start then they are more likely to walk away from it thinking something is wrong with it. That's how I see it anyways

I guess i always thought theifs were dumb. if the were smart they would have a degree. besides... whenever I have turned a key on a vehicle and nothing happened my first thought is dead battery. not "hmm. i bet these guys are parinoid that someone will steal their truck and put a secret switch somewhere."

alright dudes...i put a Vandal Alert wireless PCM relay on my truck. it's 115 bucks and kills power to the PCM via a wireless signal from the key fob on my keychain. the contact in the relay does not close and power the pcm until i press the button so unless you know it's there and replace the relay, it wont start. cheap insurance if you ask me...

Pretty good idea actually. Wonder if you could DIY something like that?

Yeah you can sort of. It wouldn't be "remote" so to speak, but you can do a setup using a small magnet inside of an empty fob to do a similar idea. Let me find the schematic and I will post it.

You need to run a switch to kill the starter solenoid not the fuel pump. The truck will and can run with a completely dead fuel pump. Some will not for a long time but many will. I am speaking from numerous times worth of direct experience. what makes this worse is if stolen they are going to trash your barrel plungers on all the injectors from no fuel pressure to lube the parts. They likely will only go a mile or so maybe a few as it will be driving like crap. But you will have likely trashed your injectors. Good luck proving that to the insurance company. But whats worse is when you or someone you let drive the truck forgets to flip the switch and they drive the thing for mile and miles giving it more and more throttle because there is so little power.

Kill the starter solenoid and there is no way its going to start or run period.
