How strong are stock intercoolers??

I'm just curious about the most boost anyone's put thru a 6.4 intercooler. I seen 6.0 intercoolers go out at 40-45psi by blowing the end tank off.

6.0 intercoolers seemed pretty fragile, I've seen stock trucks with stuck turbos bust tanks off.

I've seen 50+ on mine, no issue.

So if these are holding up to 100psi is it really worth it for an aftermarket one? Can't I just strip the paint off of the stock one to help with a little better heat exchange or would that not make a difference?

An aftermarket cooler will still flow more than the stock one

Yea 100+ psi and never had a problem other than blowing boots violently have a few dents to prove it lol

I noticed over a 100 degree drop in EGTs with the install of my AFE ic compared to a BRAND NEW Ford ic.. now if only I could keep my diesel site boots on Ide be in good shape.
