It does all add up quickly. You end up with about 7000 in parts including gaskets.
Another 1000 to replace bearings and rings, plus about 2000 in machine work.

Its kinda tough once you get into to say, meh lets just skip the block and head work and reuse bearings and rings.......

The carillo's are a good bit heavier than stock so you have to add about 300 dollars worth of tungsten or mallory to the crank to get a nice balance job.

I wonder how they compare in weight to R&R rods

Actually out of all the diesel's out there to build the 6.7 is probably is one of the most affordable.
I think you have a winner.

I don't even know what r&r rods are? Edit found them.
Is that something you guys make/sell?
Do you have a link?
The bob weights are in the box with carillo.

i do know the off center shape of the 6.7 rod makes weighing them out for big end little end a little tricky.

Are you thinking aluminum or billet?

R&R is a rod manufacturer. There are lots of people who use/sell them. I use them exclusively in the diesel stuff. They are all steel rods for diesel applications either H-beams or I-beams. Now they have come out with a forged and machined rod for the powerstrokes instead of just the ones machined out of a piece of bar stock. I've got 5 sets of 6.4 rods here that are the new forging. Mike @ R&R says that the forging based rods will be superior in strength compared to the machined "billet" ones made from bar stock. But then again we've never seen any R&R rods fail. Not the same for carrillos. But ill leave it at that.

The owners of RCD & R&R are good friends. We've got 10 sets of. R&R 6.7 rods on the shelf right now. They are known for being the lightest and strongest connecting rods you can find. Ill have to compare a stock rod to one of these

That last 2 sentences is where I choose whose rods I buy
