When you engage 4x4 on the dash does the truck not lock in? Well this will determine the problem, might be a quick patch/replacement of a vacuum line, or a solenoid replacement. I made a quick video that will only take a couple minutes for you to figure out what the problem is, and depending on the problem, the actual fix shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes. When I had this problem I couldn't find a good resource to troubleshoot. The guys here helped me figure it out so I wanted to give back to the community with a quick video guide, hope this helps someone.

Just a little fyi the pump pulls a vacuum rather than apply pressure. Same concept just opposite effect.

7c34 9h465-a is a Solenoid part # from (I think) previous years, but my 2010 F250 has part# 7c34 9h465-ac for the solenoid. Going to Ford right now to pick it up since I've had a hell of a time finding the "-ac" part # online. Amazon has the "-a" part # online for $65 + free shipping.
