Ok guys need some help i have an early 99 powerstroke(DP Tuner,T500,AFE Intake,MBRP Exhaust,Regulator return,Air Dog,238 cc Full force injectors) I pulled my truck out the other day was running great the night before it died while pulling it out. i proceeded to pull the ipr because iv had trouble with it clogging up after installing a used t500 after a few attempts of cranking truck finally fired up. i drove the truck up the street was running a little rough then started blowing white smoke pulled over to listen to it then it hydro locked. i had it towed home where i then pulled the valve covers off the driver side front injector at the front of the motor had lifted a quarter inch.( i torqued all in injectors when i installed them). after re torquing all the injectors i pulled the glow plugs and unhydrolocked the motor. fuel came out the cylinder that the injector lifted. after this i got the truck started and running smooth took it around the block came back white smoke again later hydrolocked. pulled all 8 injectors the one that lifted and the one behind it both were missing copper washers and torn o rings, replaced the o rings other 6 injectors looked fine put it all back together went to start hydrolocked. pulled all glow plugs no fluid squrited out so put them back in went to start HYDROLOCKED pulled plugs spins free no fluid squirts out. Put them back in and try cranking the motor by hand hits hard spots?????

Check for fuel in your oil, you may still be filling your cylinders with fuel. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to send out the set of injectors to get them flowed. The injector that lifted could have a messed up pintle in the nozzle allowing the injector to "hang" open, filling your cylinder.

So your cylinders are probably still being hydrolocked. If it turns over with hard spots (with the glow plugs out) maybe you have a tweaked rod?

I am definitely thinking a bent rod. Hydrolock causes major failure.

You really need to have your injectors sent in and make sure(hope) you didn't bend a rod.

Ok glad u mentioned the oil I later drained the oil it completely filled a 5 gallon bucket I know for a fact the oil level was correct it has a different smell like diesel is in it. The motor spins fine by hand with the glow plugs out?

Injector cup or stuck pintle

I'm really doubting an injector cup unless it's an extreme coincidence. Simply because everything was fine prior to the injector swap (I'm assuming). My bet is on a hung pintle, seen it happen in a situation with very similar circumstances.

What happened to your copper washers?
Stuck in the bottom of the cup?

Ok guys need some help. I have an early 99 powerstroke with DP Tuner,T500,AFE Intake,MBRP Exhaust,Regulator return,Air Dog,238 cc Full force injectors) I pulled my truck out the other day and it died while pulling out. It was running great the night before.

I proceeded to pull the IPR because I have had trouble with it clogging up after installing a used t500. After a few attempts of cranking, the truck finally fired up. I drove the truck up the street and it was running a little rough. It then started blowing white smoke So I pulled over to listen to it. Then it hydro locked.

I had it towed home where I then pulled the valve covers off the driver side. The front injector at the front of the motor had lifted a quarter inch. I had torqued all in injectors when i installed them.

After re-torquing all the injectors, I pulled the glow plugs and unhydrolocked the motor. Fuel came out the cylinder that the injector lifted on. After this I got the truck started and running smooth. I took it around the block came back white smoke again and later it hydrolocked.

I pulled all 8 injectors the one that lifted and the one behind it both were missing copper washers and had torn o-rings. I replaced the o-rings and the other 6 injectors looked fine. I put it all back together went to start it but it was hydrolocked. I pulled all glow plugs but no fluid squirted out so put them back in went to start it but it was HYDROLOCKED. I pulled the glow plugs again and it spins free and no fluid squirts out. I Put them back in and try cranking the motor by hand but it hits hard spots?

You have a good description of your diagnostic techniqures that were helpful. If you would just break up your thoughts into some paragraphs and write a sentence that starts with a capital letter it really will help the guys help you better.

To add on I think I would do a compression check on this motor to get some idea if you could have bent a rod when this happened.

If you don't have access to a compression tester, pull all the glow plugs.

Turn the engine until #1 is at TDC.

Drop a long piece of coat hanger down the glow plug hole, Mark it, and measure the distance.

Repeat for the other seven holes. They should all be the same. If you have one that is further from the top, you have a bent rod.
