Very funny lol

In all seriousness though, would all it take is machine work for an injector like that to fit? Or are those CAT injectors completely different?

Clearance hole for a 7mm tip exists now - I want it to be a clearance hole for a 9mm tip..... make hole bigger. The injector I have could easily be passed off as a 7.3 injector.

I understand. lol. You wouldn't be worried in the least about it being slightly off center or slightly too big with all the combustion pressures there?

Looks like a drill bit would fix the heads up. And 9mm is common size for tips. Plus then we could actually fit a camera in the injector hole.

You could make a jig to center the bit to the current port. There are enough threaded holes in the heads that can be used.

There is even an injector bore that could keep it concentric.

You said this CAT injector is "essentially the same" as a 7.3 injector. Do the exact dimensions match up to a 7.3 injector? the O-ring kits work the same? (other than the washer, obviously) What about the solenoid and the plug for it? What engine model(s) are these CAT injectors from? What kind of flow specs?

I think this thread needs split. LOL

The hold down is different on this one here, solenoid looks the same, everything else looks the same. Not worth going to find a set because they cost way more than the PSD version.

have you taken a micrometer to it to see how the rest of the measurements stack up? If those injectors would fit in the holes... could they cut a relief in the piston?

Nate,

But a 9mm nozzle for the 7.3 is doable and on the engine side would require opening up the cup and port? Is this correct from the amount you have looked into it?

How many guys would actually be interested in purchasing a set of these nozzles and or having their current injectors upgraded if these were to be available? Be willing to mod the head and cup? I think that would be the deciding factor of this being done for all but high cost one offs from billet?
