Ok talked with Matt at cutting edge. I owe u some beers man!

Made the boost test cap thank you matt, and installed. Found the leaks coming from the head under the alternator. Took the first 3 bolts out and put a chit load of rtv silicone on the bolts and crammed them back in and torqued. I put those 3 at 10ft pounds. Re tested the air system and couldn't hear a leak. So I'm gonna let it sit over night and try it out tomorrow.

Wish I put silicon in those damn gaskets from the getgo. So I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for all the helpful ideas fellas

It's possible it could be warped from the heat of the tig or from shipping. It had a crack on one of the welds and I know welds don't crack unless it gets a hard impact. The crack was welded up here locally. Guess ill see tomorrow. All I know this is turning into a large headache

True. I'd imagine under high boost that manifold is gonna do a lot of funny things.

And bingo Steve with a mind reading fact.

Started up the truck checked for a leak with the truck running. No leak found.
Went for a hot lap and noticed my egts were around normal temps with the stock manifold but the truck felt like it was accelerating faster. Came home and tested with soapy water and we still have a leaker. It's not leaking as much as before however it's still leaking.

:lame:

Sounds like its warped, when you installed it did you start the tighten them all finger tight and then start the torque sequence from the rear bolts and work your way forward ?

It's not like the ones you and I sell. The factory bolts on the soot piece are reused to secure the manifold from the roof down. Now with the internal supports removed it has no way to to apply direct pressure to the floor gasket. Under boost, heat cycles, that manifold is going to continue to move and leak. You should never have to use RTV on an intake gasket for a 6.4/6.0.... ever

So the sleeves are removed but the stock bolts are still used ? If that's the case whats stopping the roof of the intake from bowing inward till the bolts bottom out and then you cant apply any more clamping force ?

Got this chit squared away will post a review shortly

Glad you got the leaks stopped. I'm anxiously awaiting your reveiw of this manifold. It'll be nice to hear what you have to say about the performance. The install doesn't sound good at all, based on all your issues, but maybe it'll run good.

A ported manifold will be my next mod, hopefully.

And Absolute will be taking care of that for you :D

Steve, if you would like to send me an APEX, I'll test it! Change nothing but the manifold and give before and after dyno numbers, EGT drop and anything else I see. I'll also take pics and post of how the product is packaged and of the quality (we know its a top notch piece already but more pics never hurt). I can't flow bench it, but I can do just about everything else. I know that Ollie didn't have a good experience at all with Soot's intake (why epoxy it? Why, Why, Why?) and I'd be happy to show everyone the difference.

I can say this, Steve is a stand up guy. Very professional, and even though I've never ordered anything from Absolute, I wouldn't hesitate. He even took the time to call me after 5 on a Saturday afternoon when I needed to talk to him.

I gave him a bunch of undue crap when he first came out with his manifold because he didn't have any numbers and I was listening to JJ about how Steve was a shady guy. I WAS WRONG. Steve is a great guy and has proven that time and time again. I have already apologized to Steve man to man (or as close to man to man as can be when 2 guys are thousands of miles apart) but I'd like to take this opportunity to admit I was wrong in a public forum and extend my apology again. Steve not only accepted my apology earlier, but offered to help MTW whenever and however he could. I look forward to working with Absolute Performance in the future and hopefully one day having the opportunity to meet Steve in person and shake his hand. Thanks again for not holding a grudge Steve, that shows the kind of character that so many in this world are lacking.

Now, back to topic. Odawg, sorry for the derail, but I needed to get that off my chest and admit I was a douche and completely wrong about Steve. Been looking for the best opportunity and your thread presented it.
