Intercoolers (DI - Hypermax Tapercore)

Have an intercooler question and would like you opinions.

I have had the DI intercooler in my F-250 since 2006 with swamps 175/146 SS injectors, van turbo and Tony's Tunes (see sig below). Great tow setup for my 5th wheel over the years....

Getting ready to pull the motor in our 2000 Excursion for some repairs and install 160/80 SS injectors & a S366 Turbo at Rocky's (Rockin "S" Performance Fort Lupton, CO). I am considering taking the DI intercooler out of my F-250 and putting it in the Excursion, then getting a Hypermax Tapercore to put in the F-250.

Do you think I'll see any EGT drop with the Tapercore over the DI while towing in my F-250? or should I just leave the DI in the F-250 and put another DI in the Excursion? Been very happy with the big DIIC Intercooler, dropped my EGT's @ 200 degrees when towing...............

If it were me, I'd just get another DIIC... My OBS has one and if I ever do one in my SD I'll get another one. I doubt you'd see much if any difference going to the Hypermax IC.

Thanks Travis, like I said - the DI intercooler has been great - would purchase one agin in a heartbeat. Was just wondering if I should try something different .....

I have a hypermax cooler in my X. I do not have one bad thing to say about it other than I had to loosen the cross brace to get it to install. Other than that its been perfect. BUT.....I got a great deal on it second hand and that is why I have it.

They are built like a tank. If I was running a compound setup and or pushing high boost I would say the hypermax is worth it but otherwise I think I would save the money and get the DI. Its not that hypermax are not worth the money its whether you need what that kind of money buys.

Have you considered running a nice water inject setup as that will certainly allow you to control your EGTs

Hey Tarm! Been a few years since we crossed paths back on PSN - good to hear from you. Thanks again for all the help 2-3 yeas ago when I first purchased my Excursion.......:toast:
