Is the fluidamper worth it?

It seems like the results are split. I've been thinking about it before throwing my new engine in. My rotating assembly is balanced so I'm not sure I would notice a big difference.

Ran a Fluid Dampr for a few years and now an ATI over the last 3 years.
*Noticed no difference in idle or high rev's.
Just shipped the Fluid Dampr out today since it was collecting dust.

Big difference between stock and either damper. No difference between the two aftermarket products that I saw with about 3 years of running each in the same truck with the same setup.

I bought a Fluidampr, just wondering why the guys who bought the ATI thought their's was better.

I run a fluid damper on my 7.3 and I thought I felt a little bit smoother running then compared to my stock one.

I've had the fluid damper on my truck for the last six years or so. Noticed a slight increase in power when it was installed & haven't had any problems since

Old man Dave that is a question for the guys that purchased them. I have no idea why anyone would pay three times the amount of a stock harmonic balancer to get an ATI when their getting about the same product in the end. Rubber balancers from factory are tuned specifically for that engine and its power and rpm parameters. When you add performance parts to your engine it changes that original power spec. Most guys also increase their rpms. Since Fluidampr is a silicone based damper it tunes it's self through all power and rpm ranges controlling the harmful torsional vibrations created by your engine resulting in a smoother running engine which FREES up lost power. Fluidampr does not add horsepower to your engine. With the addition to our harmonic balancer we are able to have your engine run smoother and better therefore freeing up that power that was once lost. This is why you see the expensive exotic cars coming with a silicone style damper vs the rubber balancer, along with large farm equipment such has a half million dollar tractor. You can find silicone dampers from the factory on these units. They need those to run nothing other than perfect. No time for breaking down in a field that means you and I won't eat! For any of the OBS guys wanting to install a Fluidampr, I highly recommend getting the SD water pump pulley. If you don't, get the belt on is a PITA. The OBS pulley is slightly larger than the SD one.

And if you run it with a 6.0 fan blade, you won't need the spacer that is included in the OBS Fluidampr kit. You can just locate a SD 7.3 Fluidampr and install the 6.0 fan blade and SD water pump pulley, update all three at once.

Is the 6.0 blade an upgrade over the SD 7.3 fan blade. Can I run the SD damper on my 96 obs engine with the SD water pump pully and SD 7.3 fan blade?

I think the price of a new SD versus OBS Fluidampr probably offsets the cost of the 6.0 fan blade. I wish that info was out when I did mine.

you can only run a 6.0 fan blade on the OBS. It wont work on a SD, And I believe the SD fan/clutch will not fit on the OBS.

The 6.0 fan works on the OBS 7.3's. I am not sure about the SD fan blade. The SD damper and OBS damper are the same, the OBS kit comes with a spacer for the stock fan/clutch. The 6.0 fan blade/OBS fan clutch clears everything without the spacer. The water pump pulley is a great addition to make changing the serpentine belt easier.
