I don't agree
the whole reason no one can put a CCLB tank in a CCSB is they don't physically fit
whats different in a CCLB CCSB ? LB it's longer

if it was just what you mentioned it would be a common swap IMHO

Maybe you missed the part where I said I had them both laying side by side when I did my short bed conversion.

The filler neck is in a different spot. Its in a different spot for the straps. If you un strap one and try to strap in the other it won't line up.

Even the short bed tank I used ran from the axle all the way to the transmission crossmember. So did the long bed tank, but the filler was under the cab so I had to go with the short bed tank to move the filler back.

With either a lwb or a swb they use two crossmembers under the bed for the straps. Since they both use the same mounting points but the distance from end of tank to filler door changes they changed the filler location on the tank.

Long bed tank. This is where I found it wider. I couldn't get my hand between the tank and the rail when I was putting on new hangers.

You have a long bed tank if the filler neck is in front of the sending unit. Which is proven in my pictures.

Yours sir, is a long bed tank.

i didn't miss anything you wrote in the first post about the tanks

it just makes no sense to me that the tanks are the same save for width since there is no extra width gained between a LB/SB

and depth only affects the straps not clearance

what you do gain in a Long bed is length

Long bed tank. This is where I found it wider. I couldn't get my hand between the tank and the rail when I was putting on new hangers.
I thought that was the same for My SB tank but I have since removed it so I can't check , I know my Titan has no clearance there

I will admit defeat when I see the dimensions or a side by side pic but you didn't take one :lookaround:

no offense intended JMart I am a natural born skeptic LOL and Titan list tanks for the CCSB and CCLB the CCLB is longer neither tank is the same as the other cab configurations i see yours is a single cab and I don't know if that plays into it ?

The sending units aren't the same either. My lwb sending unit wouldn't fit in my swb tank. It was to long so I modded it to fit. The lwb tank is deeper and wider.

When I started my build I panicked on the length. I measured my old tank and my new tank and thought the same thing you are. How the hell is the length the same? How am I going to make this work?

Would the large pic with the two tanks in my post on page 2 be comparing the SB and LB tanks?

It looks like it to me. After referencing my old pics, it looks like the top tank has the filler neck on the left. That little yellow stem. Its hard to tell from the angles but you can spot some differences.

Ok I will go with your correct until I can prove you wrong :postwhore2:

but as you know these threads seem to never have a great side by side picture so don't hold your breath on my next post with proof LOL

Ford only list this on the Body Builders guide
FUEL TANK: — Capacity 29.0 Gal. (109 L) With 141.8″ WB
SuperCab/156.2″ WB Crew Cab;
38.0 Gal. (143 L) With Regular Cab/158″ WB SuperCab/172.4″ W

I have a ccsb truck and have put over 34 gallons in it many times. My tank looks like the "longbed" version in Jmart pictures. I'm the only owner and I've never changed the tank out. I'm 99.99% positive that my ccsb truck has a 38 gal tank. Or larger than 34 :)

Did you ever "harpoon" it?

u can get around the harpoon if you rock the truck as you fill to the top and burp the tank

I can See TyCorr at the gas station doing that to his truck and scaring people or is it scarring ?

I've had the truck since October of 99. Just did the harpoon and hutch mods last spring. It's ok.

That didn't really change the amount of fuel it holds just the time involved.
