Talk with Eric about the delay shift file. When did a while back he told me to only run that tranny tune on the street and down. I asked about the Mild tune and he told me that if the tranny was good it would be fine, but suggested the Firmer with stock lock. Reason is it shifted softer than the other.

Im pretty sure eric told me the same andI also always thought the delay was too soft, especially for anything larger than street or to tow with

i would also pick another clutch kit.
Why this? Just curious, but this is what is holding up in 1,000 hp trucks, for longer than I am getting out of mine...

Damn... I will try to run a lesser trans tune. But I am also going to try some of gearheads tuning, and see how that holds up.

the red eagle clutch's that are in those iron pac kits are to hard and glaze quickly.

i personally use raybestos stg 1 frictions. they bite hard, but are forgiving at the same time, if the trans hicups.

all personal preference, i guess...

Maybe you should try the new GPZ clutches. Elite should have them in stock... That's what Shone and Mal's truck have been using.

I have been using Raybestos clutches in the Allisons I have been building for the same reason that was mentioned above about the glazing quickly and the Raybestos clutches being more forgiving. Good luck Corb!

Use Raybestos R1 clutches/frictions in 48s that hold well also. Raybestos and a DPC converter with some other billet goodies and be ready to rock.

Yeah, but in less than 3,500 miles, with nothing more than a 71 on stock fuel for power, and NEVER seeing a boosted launch? Or towing on this setup yet... I was in Cruise control, shortly after a snow, at 53 MPH, at 12:45 in the morning. No high trans temps, In the 250 for track days, yeah, I would say that one could be better than the other, but I am running around in a 600 hp tune, that is not stressed too hard at all with my 4.30 gears, and not run very hard... Not yet at least... And no one can tell me why I lost 5th gear last week... Mechanically, everything was tip top, and then she slid into 4th, and held it for 3 miles at 50 MPH until I could get off the road... Again, not running hard, about 60 mph, with traffic, then downshift for no apparent reason....

I gotta lean towards tuning on this one. The same trans is in Aaron's crew cab from DPC, the same trans is in his Xcab, that just did 7.2xx...

If I smoke the trans in the 250, I can see trying different clutches and rebuild it to a stage 4, but with my time constraints, and not knowing the abilities on the guys here, I am just going to have Aaron ship me another trans, and have these guys in NM do an R&R... The DPC TC will be back in the 450 again... Along with some gearhead tuning...

going to have to tear it down to know for sure. i was only sharing info on what i know of those clutches.

I can't say its all internal trans issues, or tuning issues. Im sure you will get it figured out. I also think its a good move switching tuners to narrow down the issue. only changing one thing at a time to find the problem is also a plus!!!!

I do however believe that once you load up your gearhead tuning. It will be there for good.

matt tunes bolth my trucks, as well as all my customer vehicles as well.

Sorry about your luck. My buddy just had his transmission rebuilt for not going into 5th and slipping real bad. It drove fine for about 4 days and then it lost 5th again but he parked it and then went and drove it about 3 hours later and it shifted Into 5th just like normal . What part of New Mexico are you in?

Right on. Yeah, I do wanna find out what caused it, so Aaron's guy will def get this back, just to rule out mechanicals causing the failure. And EVERYONE that I have spoken with says the same thing about Matts tunes.

I'm in Playas, NM. Exit 34 on I-10, and 28 Miles south on NM 113. Just an area that we use for training. Ill be taking my rig to Deming, NM for the R&R.
