Hey guys,
I am curious to see the difference between HID and LED headlight output for the 11-15 body style and for the 08-10 body style headlights so we might as well get 99 to 07 too. Please post pictures and let us know what they are!
Thanks!:toast:

I am hoping this could be a quick reference picture thread instead of going through pages and pages of chat about headlights. Thanks!

That looks awesome OBSWIZ!!! I am considering the retro fit but the old man doesn't want to pull his lights on his 08 apart, yet he wants better light. I just might have to do it for him!

Do it. It's not hard and the hid/ projector retrofit will give you EXCELLENT output without blinding everyone else you share the road with.

We can supply new housings..but $

IMO LED light bars are fantastic but headlights so far and not very impressive.
Another BIG problem with LED headlights is in the snow....no heat to melt the snow buildup so you end up without lights.

I've got an exploder with projectors (no hid or anything yet) and I love that output and I know with an FX-R it would be even better! I am just saving up to do mine on my 15 and I am trying to convince the old man to go that route so I can practice on his! Lol

The fxr is a great projector from what I have heard. They also look a great deal more rugged than the mini's. You will have to cut the reflector/housing to fit the fxr, but depending on the depth of the oem bulb base you may have to modify them to fit mini's too.

The process looks complicated but it really isn't that bad.

Do you mean the shroud needs to be cut?

No, I mean the reflector or bulb base in the stock housings will need to be cut for the fx-r, and possibly sanded for a morimoto mini.

The shroud is the term for the decorative piece that covers the installed projectors to keep the from view when you look through the lens. The shrouds may also have to be trimmed in order to get them fitted snug.

OK just wanted to make sure we were on the same page, I've been looking into the fx-r retro for quite some time and with the 97-03 F150 lightning heads so I am expecting some cutting of both the headlight bucket and the projector shroud. Thanks!

Here's a comparison of stock cheapo halogens and LED bulbs in my truck with clear '02 housings.

I switched back to halogens in my truck for now. I put some Sylvania ZXE bulbs in it to brighten up the light a bit since these pics were taken.. My problem with the LEDs is that I can see farther down the road with some old busted yellow halogens. I absolutely loved the brightness of the light the LEDs produced, the high beam just didn't do anything but reflect off the bottom of the housing and shine up into the trees. I want/need a high beam, so until I find a good solution, I'll keep my halogens.
